Welcome to the first installation of TrailNotes, the collection of somewhat regular blog posts from The Trailhead Group. 

TrailNotes intends to capture pragmatic insights and observations that help leaders of growing organizations plan and execute more effectively. As this writer has learned, a little separation from your own work can offer incredible perspective that awakens parts of the mind that can become dulled by the demands of building a company. TrailNotes commits to offer readers a short, few moments to catch their breath and take in a different view from time to time.

The Trailhead Group was formed in response to nearly 20 years of experiences in the classroom and the business world of education. The metaphor of the trailhead represents the recurring moments in the journeys of every leader of every growing company. The leader understands her/his expected role in guiding the company on the adventure that will change how the company sees itself and is seen. In those moments, the leader has an opportunity to:

                  — define and articulate the purpose of the journey,
                  — identify potential obstacles and plan for possible alternate paths, and
                 — understand and assemble the team in the way required to accomplish the objective

When leaders take the time to chart out these variables, teams can move with incredible pride and efficiency. If not, teams can get lost and work against each other, especially in moments of stress and confusion.
