In early 2020, The Trailhead Group launched Outfitter, an initiative to find, focus, and support local community giving efforts that embody our guiding principle of purpose guiding action.
We will highlight our early trailblazers here. We encourage you learn more about their works and contact us if you have an idea for collaboration.
Bike Thru BBQ
A neighbor-driven effort developed during the COVID pandemic combined a restless community looking to help those in need, love of comfort food, and strong attachment to the local shops and restaurants that make the neighborhood a special place. Bike Thru BBQ is now an established 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on raising funds and awareness for food insecurity in Washington, D.C. Since its inception, Bike Thru BBQ has raised nearly $20,000 to support local causes.
Bike Thru BBQ offers backyard-smoked ribs and homemade sides to Capitol Hill neighbors in a “potluck for pick up” style. Proceeds are not merely distributed as cash. Instead, Bike Thru BBQ collaborate with the selected business owners and community organizations to apply the funds creatively to address the real business and personnel challenges.
